About Healing Yoga
Having grown up in India and having a mother who studied the Yoga Sutras and who is a yoga teacher, I was exposed at an early age to yoga and eventually developed a passion for it myself. I have studied and based my practice on the teachings of Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya
(b. 1888 – 1989). Krishnamacharya is mainly known as a healer who drew from both ayurvedic and yogic traditions to restore health and well-being to those he treated by focusing on individual needs. I hope to pass along to others the awesome content that I have learned through my studies.
All too often mainstream yoga classes focus on poses that increase strength and flexibility when there is so much more to yoga. The mind is the cause of tremendous imbalance in the body. The regular practice of yoga can develop a pathway for the mind to transcend the physical, mental, and intellectual layers, and provide an avenue to experience our true nature of a peaceful mind and our best health.
